Our Mission Vision & Values
Our Mission is Reaching, Teaching Training and Sending. These are then driving by our values:
1. Teaching God’s Word
How has the Word of God transformed you lately?
God has given us His love letter, the Bible consisting of the Old and New Testaments. It is the first and final authority for our lives and all that we teach and do as a church. As a church, we aspire to equip people with the Word of God in order to prepare them to live out a Christ centered life.
Colossians 3:16; Psalm 119:11; 2 Timothy 3:16-4:4; 2 Peter 1:20-21
2. Prayer
How have you experienced the Power of Prayer?
God has given us direct access to Him through our prayer and petitions. Prayer is a privilege and something every Christian should strive to increase daily to the point of fervently praying without ceasing. As a church, we desire to be a house of prayer and celebrate how God has answered our prayers for His glory, in His timing not our own.
1 Thessalonians 5:17; Acts 2:42; Romans 12:12; Jeremiah 33:3; Ephesians 3:20
3. Evangelism and Discipleship
Who has God placed in your circle to reach in the last month?
We desire to see people make a decision to follow Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. After accepting His free gift, as a church, we wish to help people then grow in their faith, preparing them to also go and share Christ with others.
Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 1:8
4. Christ Centered Worship
How have you given Him the attention He deserves?
Worship is not something that is done for an hour a week on Sunday. Worship is to be a lifestyle of honoring Christ with all that we are by increasing our knowledge of Him. We prepare our worship services to honor and glorify Christ, pointing all hearts toward him.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 92:1-2; Mark 12:30; Luke 4:8; Romans 12:1-2
5. Grace Based Living
How are you living as though you have been saved by grace?
Because of God’s grace to us, we are to show grace toward others. We are all made in the image of God and we should treat everyone as God’s children remembering that we are all sinners saved by grace. This is why we desire to be a friendly, open place where people can come to be loved and be shown the Grace of God regardless of their past for we were all dead but can be made alive in Christ.
Luke 10:25-37; Matthew 18:21-35; Mark 12:31; 1 Corinthians 1:3-4; Ephesians 4:2-6; 29-32
For 2012, these values are going to be what drive us. We want to see these values become the heartbeart of First Baptist church, corporatly and individually. Everything we do will be driven by these 5 values.
Lastly, as a church we want to connect everything we do to a soul. There are eternal consequenses to what we do so we want to make the time we have here on this earth count for the Kingdom.
